My experience with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has been long…I was first diagnosed with PTSD in 1993 after the trauma of having a house fire in March 1991. After many years of therapy, I learned how to manage the symptoms I had. I was doing really well, raising children and building a career, until I was verbally abused in the workplace, starting in August 2016.
I was told by the psychiatrist I saw in Ontario that my symptoms came back to the forefront, especially my fears. It was hard for a few years there, but finally, I have become confident once again in myself and in my World.
I greatly enjoy these videos, and I always learn something new! I hope you do too…
Understanding PTSD goes far beyond what most people think they know. In this video, we break down every sign and symptom of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in a way that’s both scientifically accurate and deeply human. From intrusive flashbacks and nightmares to hypervigilance and emotional numbing, we explore how trauma can rewire the nervous system and change the way your brain processes safety and danger.
PTSD doesn’t just affect combat veterans—it can develop after car accidents, assault, natural disasters, childhood trauma, medical emergencies, or any overwhelming experience. We’ll help you understand what’s really happening in the brain when traumatic memories don’t get processed properly, why your body might react to safe situations as if they’re dangerous, and what the lesser-known symptoms look like in daily life.
Whether you’re trying to understand your own experiences, support someone you care about, or simply learn more about how trauma affects the mind, this video offers a comprehensive look at PTSD without the clinical jargon or stigma. We cover intrusive re-experiencing, avoidance behaviours, negative thoughts and beliefs, emotional numbing, hyperarousal, sleep disturbances, dissociative amnesia, and much more.
Recovery from PTSD is possible. Understanding the full picture of symptoms is often the first step toward healing.
