St. John's NL. Window with a view

St Johns Harbour Morning View Capturing Newfoundland’s Quiet Beauty

This is St. John’s Harbour, taken this morning. What A View! No matter how many times I see it, it always blows me away…That’s why I use the same view for the top photo of my site! Scenes like this give me the “feels,” and I feel so grateful to be here to enjoy them.

My husband snapped this photo from a window at his work, and the moment I saw it, I felt that familiar tug – the one that reminds me why Newfoundland landscapes are woven so deeply into my sense of self. I love this land…Yes, he takes pictures for me that he knows I will like!

There’s something about this view: the quiet water, the sun slowly rising, the mix of industry and nature sharing the same space. It’s a reminder that beauty doesn’t wait for perfect timing. It shows up in the early morning of an ordinary day, framed by a window you’ve looked through a hundred times, asking nothing more than for you to pause long enough to notice. I am glad he did…

For me, scenes like this echo the heart of what I write about here: clarity, resilience, and the small moments that steady us.

Life isn’t made of grand gestures. It’s made of these quiet glimpses – where the world softens, the noise settles, and you remember that even in the middle of responsibility and routine, there is room to pause and find peace.

This photo captures that balance beautifully. A working harbour. A calm horizon. A reminder that we can hold both.

And maybe that’s why it belongs here on my site. Because healing, truth, and growth don’t happen far away from real life – they happen right in the middle of it, often through windows just like this one.
