Hubby and I went out on O’Brien’s Boat Tours | Top-Rated Whale & Puffin Watching Tours, which is one of the more famous ones here in Newfoundland. They operate out of Bay Bulls, a community a half hour outside of St. John’s. The boat goes to the “Witless Bay Ecological Reserve—home to North America’s largest Atlantic puffin colony, with over 500,000 puffins, and millions of other seabirds, including common murres, black-legged kittiwakes, and razorbill auks.”
It is located on Gull Island, just outside the Harbour, and they are noisy!! Thousands of birds flying overhead, (yes, they shit all over you so keep your mouth shut:-D) It is an amazing sight to see and hear though. These birds are beautiful…I love watching the Puffins swim across the water! They are very cute Seabirds!
We did get to see a couple of Humpback Whales as well, and watching them glide through the cold Atlantic Ocean is awe-inspiring for me. It is Whale season here in NL, and they are all over, from Humpbacks to Minke. Over on St. Vincent’s Beach, you can watch them frolic from the shore!
I love everything about Newfoundland, from the land, the animals we have here, and the FEEL of the Island. I haven’t found anywhere else like it.
I met quite a few people on the Tour Boat, most of them from Ontario who came here for a vacation, and nope, I had no fear of any of them. It wouldn’t have bothered me one bit if they recognized my name or not.
I share some videos of the humpbacks we saw on my YouTube channel here: (25) Humpback Whale Breaching – YouTube and Humpback Whales Video #2.
Yes, I was excited to see them! I love being out on the Atlantic Ocean, feeling the spray in my face and the rocking of the waves. I would be out there every day if I could. A couple of pictures we took of the whales are below!
I hope you enjoy seeing some of my recent adventures here in beautiful Newfoundland & Labrador. Can’t you tell I LOVE where I live?
