Choose to be Happy
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Hello Friday! I choose to be happy every day!

What a fantastic week hubby and I have had… While the weather wasn’t the best, we still had a wonderful time! Last weekend was all about relaxing and sleeping in…I even slept in till 7:00 am! 🙂

We found a new TV show that is filmed here in St. John’s NL! These videos showcase so much of the awesome scenery I love so much! These are the men and women of Newfoundland and Labrador who keep everything going. If you want to see some beautiful scenery and listen to the awesome accents here, have a look at this show!

“East Harbour Heroes” follows the work of the people who keep the shipping lanes clear, container ships stocked, and the goods flowing in and out of the harbour.

Monday, August 19 was a wet and rainy day! Hubby and I went out early to the grocery store to beat the rain but we got a bit wet on the way home. It poured…St. John’s got about 50mm of rain into Tuesday, August 20 so we stayed home and found inside things to do… We got hit with the tail end of “Ernesto”, the cyclone from the South.

Cloudy Day in St. John's! Monday August 19 2024

Wednesday, August 21, we spend the day with my in-laws… It was a great visit!

Yesterday, August 22, was our 28th Wedding Anniversary! It turned out to be a beautiful afternoon so hubby and I went for a walk down Duckworth St, taking in the sights. We slowly made our way to the Restaurant on Water St. where we sat and enjoyed Chinese Food at the Magic Wok Eatery. They make the best Chinese food in the City as far as I am concerned.

I didn’t get any pictures or videos yesterday, I was focusing on enjoying being in the moment… Walking down the road, cane in one hand for support and holding hands with my hubby in the other didn’t make taking pictures possible anyway! I just enjoyed our leisurely walk, taking in all the sites and talking with my hubby.

This week isn’t over yet! Today, as the weather again isn’t the best for roaming, we are going shopping. I need to pick up some things for my trip next month. So much excitement! I am enjoying the feeling, to be honest with you!

Preparing to be gone for 2 weeks needs a lot of preparation, especially for a disabled person. I need a suitcase that I can manage with my cane so I am off to buy one today that was recommended to me. Travelling can be stressful due to comfort so I am going to get as much as I can to be comfortable!

I have compression socks, a travelling pillow, my folding cane, my windbreaker, a sweater, and lightweight clothing that folds easily. As I won’t return to NL until October, I need to cover my bases for the weather! Most of my toiletries will be bought once I am there…Any suggestions?

My family have so many events planned, it will be a a time of many “firsts” for me. There is live theatre, concerts, and even a CFL Football Game! Mostly, I am excited to see my family members and spend time with them. I will be ready for my trip next month!

This weekend the hot sunny weather is returning to the Island and hubby and I are going to finish out his holidays with the Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour. This Bus takes in all the more obvious tourist spots, including Signal Hill and Cape Spear and is good to use for 2 days of travel. You can hop on and off the bus to check out whatever site you want, as long as you want, get the next bus and go to another spot.

Going to pack a lunch and spend a few hours over at Cape Spear. I can’t roam the trails as usual this year, but I don’t mind. I get to pick a spot where I can take in the views and sit while hubby roams the trails and gets some pictures and videos. Too bad the bus doesn’t go to Middle Cove Beach, I would be there all day too!

I’ll have more pictures to share come Monday. In the meantime, I hope you have a fantastic weekend! Don’t be afraid to learn something new!
