Sunrise, St. John's NL August 16, 2024

Well, it was another fantastic week here in Newfoundland & Labrador! I was home a lot this week, gaining my energy for my hubby’s vacation next week. Yes, hubby will be on vacation when he gets off work this afternoon and we will be spending next week playing tourist!

My hubby took the picture above this morning on his way to work at 6:30 am, as the sun was rising. I find it beautiful…

The next couple of months will be busy for me socially so I won’t be writing as much!

I love playing tourist here in St. John’s and no matter how many times I see the same areas, I am always in awe. Spending the day at Cape Spear, roaming around Signal Hill, and walking the many Trails we have even in the middle of the City, are fantastic ways to spend my time. I enjoy even just sitting out in my own backyard watching the leaves on the canopy of trees over my head.

We have a few things planned, mostly around our 28th Wedding Anniversary on the 22nd. I get the chance to take out my snazzy clothes and get dressed up for dinner, maybe even a little dancing!

I have also been busy planning my Trip to the Mainland next month. I must say, I am getting a little excited about it! It will be a busy couple of weeks but I am excited to see family I haven’t seen in ages…I love flying on planes…

Yes, I am making a stop in Ontario, to visit one of my siblings who still resides in the apartment building I worked in when the smearing started. Yes, a lot of Tenants who lived there then, still reside there so yes, I will be recognized and maybe even questioned about that mess. I might even run into one of the owners there! I am okay with that, as it will give me a fantastic opportunity to show myself that I have recovered and that mess no longer stops me from doing what I want.

I won’t say when I am heading that way, to protect myself, as I don’t want toxic people to be able to “plan” anything. I really do not trust them… I won’t have to worry about toxic people bothering me!!

After a couple of days in Ontario, I will be heading West to visit more people! I’ll be gone just over 2 weeks and while I know this trip will be physically taxing for me, I still use the cane for support, it will be worth it. One last big trip, before I can’t do it anymore! So exciting!!

I had an appointment earlier this week to see my Doctor for a follow-up from a few weeks ago. I mentioned I had a Mammogram done, and that came back normal. I also had blood work done, which mostly also came back normal. My sugar levels were a bit up, but not enough for medications yet. My cholesterol was also up and I was put on medication for that. My medication list is getting longer these days!

The major concern though is my blood pressure…even with the increase a few weeks ago to one medication, it is still too high.  On average it has remained around 160/95… So, they added another pill to my medications for my blood pressure, so I am now taking 3 different ones. I hope it helps!!

My Doctor told me she is concerned about a stroke or heart attack so I am waiting on a heart stress test now as well… While I have had issues with my BP since my early 20s, apparently after all that time, parts of my heart may have become weaker and she wants to check it out.

There is so much to getting older but in all honestly, I don’t mind. As I told my hubby, I have the time to focus on whatever I need to do to keep me going! I am retired, therefore my time is my own and I don’t mind focusing on helping myself these days.

I am heading out early today, as I have some errands to run and I want to get down to the Pedestrian Mall this afternoon for the music! I copied some info from Facebook for the Event below:

This week, don’t miss Ana & Eric! 🎶
Ana & Eric, a Brazilian duo based in St. John’s, blend Brazilian bossa nova with North American indie-folk. In 2020, they released two singles and a debut EP, earning ECMA and MusicNL nominations. In 2023, they released their debut album and two singles, receiving wide coverage and nominations for the 2024 ECMA Global Recording of The Year and three 2023 MusicNL Awards.

Every Friday, there is music on Water St. featuring various local artists and I try to get down there to check them out. Tomorrow, there will be musical talent at Bannerman Park as well!

It looks to be a beautiful day here for me to get out and enjoy and I am off to do that!

Until next time… I hope you all find joy in your life, every day!
