St. John’s Regatta Day Was Great Fun!

Quidi Vidi Lake with the Lake House in the blue in the distance

Yesterday was an awesome day!

The Picture I share above shows some of Quidi Vidi Lake with the Boat House, (the blue roof) in the background. You can see some of the Food Trucks lined up there, with the crowds…

I did a lot of walking and am feeling it this morning… 🙂 I’ll be okay after a bit of rest. I greatly enjoyed my experience of the 206th Royal St. John’s Regatta!

The buses didn’t want to cooperate, as they were on a special schedule due to the Regatta, so hubby and I walked to my appointment in the AM for my bloodwork. I don’t mind, it gave me a chance to take in the scenery on the way! It went smoothly for my appt. and I was out in a few minutes.

Getting to the Regatta was easy, as they were operating Shuttle buses. We had two full buses pass us one after the other before we got picked up, even the standing space was full! Metrobus lowers the Fare for the day to $1.00, making it easy for people to get there without worrying about parking. Finding parking around the area isn’t easy…

The crowd wasn’t too bad when we got to Quidi Vidi Lake. I didn’t feel claustrophobic, so that was a good thing! Stalls were spread around Quidi Vidi Lake, down to the Playground, selling wares, food, and games. There were so many! Hubby and I walked from one end to the other, taking it all in.

All the smells, sights, and sounds. I loved every minute of it! The sweet smell of the Cotton Candy was calling me but I resisted, though it was hard!! I love the stuff but it is not good for me…

I even saw a few people I recognized, including a famous Actor from NL I knew as a child, though they didn’t remember me from back then. Nope, I won’t share their name nor my association with them… 🙂 I even saw some of our Politicians that were there…

I really wanted to try my luck but getting in to play a game was difficult, as there were lineups and I couldn’t stand in line that long. We did manage to get some lunch though, from the Big R Food Truck that was there and sat on the grass, not far from the Boat House. I LOVE their Fries!

It took us almost 2 hours to walk around Quidi Vidi Lake, taking it all in, as I had to sit a few times to rest on the way, but I greatly enjoyed the experience. By the time I had walked all that, I was wiped out, so we came home. Getting home was easy too, though by the time I walked into our home, I was beat out. It was the most walking I have done in a long time!

Not too tired to BBQ some burgers for dinner though! It was a great way to end a fantastic day!

I truly enjoy going to Community Events like the Regatta and will continue to go as long as I am physically able to do so. Meeting people, old and new, eating takeout from Food Trucks, and taking in all the excitement of the boat races, is worth the trip for me.

I am ecstatic that my sense of adventure has returned, even stronger than ever! It allows me to fight my fears and do fun things like this, as I end up having such great fun!

Where will it lead me next? Time will tell!
