The Narcissist’s False Accusations
One of the most common ways a narcissist will bait you is by pointing fingers and throwing false accusations mixed with blame and shame. Narcissists love to exploit, take the authority position, make judgments, and act self-righteous and superior. They will use what they “think” to make accusations, how they “feel” to throw accusations, and will even use gossip and hearsay to accuse, even when they only have half of an exaggerated story, and don’t have the facts or real story at all. They think just because someone else “said it” or because they “think it,” makes it true. Acting like a know-it-all is how they start drama and conflict. Their accusations are made to get some sort of reaction out of you. Then, when you disagree or try to prove them wrong, their abuse begins. They ignore, dismiss, minimize or trivialize you, may yell over the top of you so you can’t be heard, bully you, or make threats to try to shut you down. They don’t want to hear the truth. They just want to be right, get a reaction, and put you on the defense. They may make ridiculous accusations, such as claiming you’re insecure, saying you are “jealous” of them, or telling you that you’re “negative,” when those are all projections of how they are themselves, and the way they are being. Don’t listen to one single word a narcissist says. Their accusations aren’t based on facts, witnessing things, or truly knowing you well. Their accusations, blame, and shame, are made to strip away your self-worth, get a reaction, start drama, and feel superior about themselves.
