Poster: Quote from Roger Lee “One Day”
“ONE DAY you will realize that after all the battles you’ve fought,
all the storms that you’ve survived and every mountain that you’ve climbed,
you’ve always had the strength to make it through life’s journey.
Roger Lee
There comes a point in healing from life’s storms when you look back and realize the storms weren’t just something you survived — they were something that revealed you to yourself. Like standing on the cliffs in St. John’s, watching the Atlantic Ocean roll in, you start to see the pattern: every wave that tried to knock you down also taught you how to stand steadier.
Resilience isn’t loud. It doesn’t announce itself. It shows up in the quiet choices — the way you kept going, the way you kept telling the truth, the way you kept returning to yourself even when the world felt unsteady.
And when you pause long enough to notice, you can trace the thread: I made it through that. I learned from that. I’m different now — and stronger for it.
This is the heart of your journey: not pretending the storms didn’t happen, but recognizing the strength that carried you through them. The same strength that still lives in you, steady as rock beneath the tide. No matter what storms you experience, you know that they are temporary and the sun does come out again and fill your World with light.
In recent months, all I have felt is light, and I am so very grateful for it!

I feel this deeply. I spent decades in the deepest of despair, addiction, and pain. A few people told me back then that I could make it through and experience precisely the feelings you described here but I never believed them. I do now though! Healing is possible. Recovery is possible. Excellent post!
Thanks for your comment, Buck and I feel for your experience. Yes, healing is possible, no matter how long it takes.
I know how hard it is to believe words like these when we are caught up in our own misery. In the beginning of my experience with being bullied, I didn’t “hear” anyone either and came to resent anyone who told me to “let it go”. I still don’t like that phrase!
It took me WANTING a change to open my mind to other “voices” than my own miserable one I had at the time. Even then, I would have to read the same thing multiple times to absorb its meaning and get inspiration from it.
I find the mental pain I felt made me cynical and hard to trust what I was hearing, and reading. It took a long time to get out from under that but as I said, determination plays a big part.
I am so glad you also found ways to heal! It is a lifelong process…
