Signs of Spring!

The snow is melting and slowly disappearing from our yard. YAY!

It is cold here today, but we have more rain coming till Thursday, so I expect ALL the snow to be gone by the end of the week. I live in hope! I love the snow, but I struggle this year walking in it, and I am tired of all the layers I have to wear!

I don’t plan on going too far this week, as it is time to try to reorganize my office. I am itching to go shopping, but it can wait.

April 2026

Next month is shaping up to be such a full and joyful time, and I can already feel the excitement building. One of the highlights will be heading out to see Chris de Burgh in concert, and at a brand‑new venue no less. There’s something special about hearing music you love in a place you’ve never been before. I’m really looking forward to the energy of the night, the atmosphere, and the simple pleasure of sharing live music with my hubby. Date Night!

And then, of course, there’s my birthday. Hubby is making plans to take me out for dinner…it will be nice to get dressed up and be waited on! This one feels different in the best possible way. I held my 60th Birthday as a goal I wouldn’t reach due to my various health issues, and I am happy I was wrong. Stepping into a new decade brings its own kind of reflection and celebration – a chance to honour where I’ve been and welcome what’s ahead. I’m genuinely excited for it. There’s a sense of renewal in the air, and I can feel it!

Hubby and I made a major decision a few months ago, and it will come to fruition by the end of next month. Once everything is in place and final, I will share what it is. It is exciting, though! I truly believe you are never too old to start something new!!

Summer Plans

Hubby and I spent Saturday past shopping, and it turned into such a lovely day at the Mall. We recently received our tax refund, and while the temptation to splurge is definitely there, I’m choosing to be practical this year. I’d rather tuck most of it away for our summer plans – something we look forward to every single year.

Since moving back home, we’ve made it a tradition to take a week of his vacation each summer and explore our own city like tourists. We always hop on the “Hop On, Hop Off” Bus Tour, take a boat tour to see the whales, wander the trails, and stroll through the Pedestrian Mall downtown. Every year brings a few changes, and I love noticing them. The scenery here never gets old; it still takes my breath away.

As for travel, I don’t have any plans to head to the Mainland on my own this year. Last September, I was in Alberta, and the September before that, I visited Ontario and Saskatchewan. It was wonderful to see family in those places, but this year I’d really like hubby and me to go somewhere together. I’ve left the decision in his hands, with just one request: nothing too far. Long flights are hard on me, and last year’s airport connections and long travel days were rough. Something closer, something manageable, and something we can enjoy together feels just right for this season.

In the Moment

For the next couple of weeks, I plan on Spring cleaning our home. As I am disabled, I can only do so much in a day, so it will take me some time. I have a lot to go through! When we left Ontario in 2020, all our personal belongings fit in a 17-foot truck, but we have gained more stuff since. Isn’t it amazing how much “stuff” you can accumulate over just a few years?

It will be interesting! We are thinking about giving some of it away, as there are so many people in need here. I’m also working on some more posts for my “memories” section showing my career in property management in Ontario. So much history…but thankfully nothing came close to the workplace situation that started me on this site.

It is a new week! Off to get a green tea and get to work!
