The boat races are officially on today in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador! It’s Regatta Day—a civic holiday here—so the city is buzzing with energy around Quidi Vidi Lake. With vendor stalls offering all sorts of treats, games of chance, and unique finds, it’s a celebration not to be missed. And lucky us, hubby got the day off!
Normally, we’d be joining the crowds lakeside, but this year we’ve decided to sit it out. First time since 2021 that we miss it! Honestly, I just couldn’t see myself doing that much walking around the Lake, especially with the George Street Festival concert coming up Friday. These days, I’m more mindful of what I take on physically—it’s all about choosing wisely so I can keep enjoying what I love. I want to have a lot of energy for Friday to dance away to Blue Rodeo and Kellie Loder!
But truly, I’m not disappointed. This summer’s been packed with accomplishments already, and it’s not over yet! I’ve even got the tan to prove it—darker than I’ve been in ages. In a couple of weeks, hubby is off again, and we are looking at going zip-lining! Well, hubby is going, and I am still debating if I can make it up to the Landing. We have our Wedding Anniversary too next month, which I am looking forward to, then I am off to Alberta for a week to visit my Mom in early September. I enjoy a jam-packed summer!
Today, the plan is to relax at home, maybe fire up the BBQ later for some juicy steaks. For now, hubby’s wrapped up in one of his horror flicks—those jump scares aren’t for me anymore!
