The First Red Flags: Understanding the Early Patterns Behind Years of Harassment
This is the letter that started it all! It was received by email on August 31, 2016, after they received a Form N5 for refusing Pest Control.
When I look back at the 2016 letter now, I see it differently than I did at the time. Back then, it felt like an explosion – an unexpected attack over something as simple as a pest control reschedule. I didn’t have the experience or the psychological understanding I have today. I didn’t yet know how projection works, or how some people rewrite events to fit a story they’ve already decided is true. I was naive.
Today, with the education I have received, I can see that this letter wasn’t just a complaint. It was the beginning of a pattern. A pattern that showed itself over the next 9 years.
What strikes me most is how quickly the toxic tenants jumped from a scheduling inconvenience to accusations of harassment, racism, conspiracy, and bad faith. A vendor made a mistake, I notified tenants immediately, by phone, email, or text, and I even received a text confirming consent for the new time from this tenant. I still have the picture I took of the phone, showing the “ok” she gave. Yet the letter reframed that cooperation into a narrative of being targeted.
That leap – from fact to fiction, from inconvenience to persecution – became the foundation for everything that followed in the long years ahead. The more time that passed, the more outrageous their allegations against me became.
This letter shows the early signs of the behaviour that later escalated into websites, public attacks, and years of false allegations. The tone is already there: the certainty that I was acting with malicious intent, the insistence that ordinary building management tasks were part of a coordinated effort against them, and the personal attacks disguised as moral outrage.
At the time, I didn’t recognize these as warning signs. I believed that if I explained the rules, the misunderstanding would settle. I didn’t yet understand that some people aren’t looking for resolution – they’re looking for validation of a story they’ve already written.
They got mad about getting the Form N5 and thought they could intimidate me into complying with their wishes by making the situation personal.
I share these documents to show that the signs were there long before the situation escalated publicly. And it’s about giving myself credit for the growth, education, and resilience that now allow me to see these patterns for what they are.
This letter was the first ripple of a much larger wave. I didn’t know it then, but I understand it now. And understanding brings peace.
Bottom Line (Legally)
✔️ I complied with the law
✔️ I obtained consent
✔️ The 24‑hour rule no longer applied
✔️ The tenant’s narrative is factually incorrect
✔️ Their accusations are not supported by the RTA
This is a situation where the tenant agreed, then later rewrote the story to portray themselves as targeted.
Below is the PDF redacted version of this letter. This is the letter that my bosses told me to ignore and not answer, and they also refused to answer.
