I don’t have much time today, but I wanted to share this new video by Meandering Newfoundlander about more of the history of Newfoundland & Labrador. I hope you like it! I love these videos and appreciate the work he puts into them. The visuals are awesome! It showcases the beautiful scenery we have here, and I always learn new things about my home Province I didn’t know before.

Back in 1941, a German U-Boat sank the SS Larpool off Cape Race, Newfoundland and Labrador. The lifeboat containing 5 sailors drifted its way to Tides Point, down on the Burin Peninsula. That lifeboat was spotted by a young little girl of 8 years old named Irene (Dicks) Pearcey whose father was a lighthouse keeper at the time.

This story also weaves in the tale about the loss of my own grandfather, who too was a lighthouse keeper, back in 1973.
