The Truths I Learned!

You’re a victim of a Smear Campaign if…people falsely claim you’re unstable, cruel, and/or a liar. The goal is to discredit you so that others will doubt you and the truths you revealed.

I love posters, don’t you? There are so many posters like this on the internet and so easy to find, made by so many people who have suffered at the hands of a toxic narcissistic person for one reason or another. I know I am not alone in being a Target of nasty people.

I’ve had some valuable experiences dealing with toxic people, especially those I don’t know. How could I when they were just Tenants in my job? Learning from such experiences can be instrumental in personal growth and navigating challenging situations. Here are some common truths and lessons I learned when dealing with toxic strangers:

  1. Not Everyone Is Who They Seem: Some people may present themselves as friendly or trustworthy initially, but their true nature can reveal itself over time. Trust your instincts and don’t ignore red flags. If they tend to talk over you, make unreasonable demands, and expect special treatment from others…
  2. Boundaries Are Essential: Toxic individuals often push boundaries, so it’s crucial to establish and maintain healthy boundaries to protect your well-being. Don’t be afraid to say no or distance yourself when necessary. Ignore them if you can…
  3. Self-Care Is Priority: Dealing with toxic people can be emotionally draining. Prioritize self-care to maintain your mental and emotional health. This may include seeking support from friends, family, or professionals.
  4. Detoxify Your Social Circle: Surround yourself with people who uplift and support you. Don’t hesitate to remove toxic individuals from your life or limit your interactions with them. The less toxicity you have in your life the better!
  5. Toxicity Is Their Issue, Not Yours: Remember that toxic behaviour often stems from the individual’s own insecurities, fears, or past experiences. It’s not a reflection of your worth or character. They claim to know you intimately but they don’t.
  6. Communication May Not Always Work: While open and honest communication is generally a good approach, toxic individuals may not respond positively. Recognize when it’s best to disengage rather than trying to reason with them. Walk away and ignore them!!
  7. Learn to Let Go: Holding onto toxic relationships can hinder your personal growth and happiness. Sometimes, the best course of action is to let go and move forward. Their negativity doesn’t belong in your head.
  8. Seek Support and Guidance: Don’t hesitate to seek advice or counselling when dealing with particularly challenging toxic individuals or situations. Professionals can offer strategies for coping and dealing with toxicity effectively. It was my only way out!!
  9. Trust Your Instincts: Your intuition is a powerful tool. If something feels off or uncomfortable about a person or situation, trust your gut feelings and take appropriate action. Do not give in to pressure from others and do what you need to do for yourself.
  10. Keep Learning and Growing: Toxic experiences can be valuable learning opportunities. Continuously improve your emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills to better navigate future encounters. Getting strength of mind, knowing who you are, and becoming grounded in your own reality, so that you can no longer be swayed to doubt yourself anymore.

Remember that everyone’s journey is unique, and the lessons learned from dealing with toxic people can be transformative. These truths can serve as a foundation for building healthier relationships and a happier, more fulfilling life, just as I have. No matter how long it takes, you will get there. You are worth it!!
