This is a beautifully written post on the things we should normalize for trauma survivors.
In my experiences with trauma, I went through all of these things, and it took time to get over the shame I felt because I did. Society tends to shame people for negative experiences, thinking they would and could do better than you did in the same situation. They don’t know that.
Our experiences are valid and need to be accepted as such. To get better, we need to feel heard. So please, if someone you know is experiencing these things, support them, don’t hinder them! Their improved mental well-being down the road will be your reward!
